I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS CD! Let me start there. This is a voice that was born to sing. And praise be to God that he is singing on the side of the cross! Joel Parisen has the voice that can sing in any genre. But trust me this voice is right at home with soul music and not soul music but Holy soul music.

NEWWORLDSON kills it on this new album simply titled “NEWWORLDSON”. The band brings you 12 spirits filled, soulful, God infused, jazzy swing, too many different pieces of perfect to put in an explanation other than to say NEWWOLRDSON had to go into the studio in praise revival mode when they recorded it. I have heard some artist explain how there are times they are in a rush to meet a record deadline well, all I can tell you is that this had to be blast to record or maybe more like a jam session.

Never have I heard such a evangelistic album that made me want to dance and shout praise Jesus at the same time. The keys, the base, the rhythm, and that voice with a message of a risen, real, powerful Jesus makes this CD my new favorite. Every song on the album ministers and rocks at the same time.

Song number one “You Set The Rhythm” reminds me of dancing in the isles church music back when every Sunday was a revival. It’s a song all about being born again and new life with Jesus. Song two “Listen To The Lord” is a soul freeing song. Song three is a surprise that shows the diversity of the bands talents but still is all about Jesus Christ the Savior of the world. It’s an upbeat tempo with a little taste of rock.

OK so song number four “There Is a Way” is just so beautiful. It’s a tear jerker for sure. It’s all about The Way, The Truth, and The life a precious love that never leaves us. This song is the one that makes Joel’s voice simply another instrument in the music. The choir comes in at the end you began to break into the tears. It’s probably my favorite. Song six is where the funk comes in. I never really understood that word or what it meant really but now I totally get it and “That’s Exactly How I Like It”.

Song seven is where the soul comes in. If you’ve ever been to a gospel church this is what it sounds like “Rocky Road” this is a releasing song. Letting go of pride, guilt, and shame is what it’s all about. This song is food for the soul for sure.

And just when you thought the organ was dead and too old for young music Commander” the eighth song on the CD brings the organ back to life for the new generation of believers. Song ten “O Lament” is where the piano shines in harmony with that amazing voice again. It’s a beautiful combination of instrument, voice, and spirit.

Song eleven “Jamaican Praise Medley” really? A jazz, funk, Christian band? Oh yes, they really did. And it is AWESOME! The CD ends with a beautiful ballet titled “Weary”. This one is probably my second favorite.

NEWWORLDSON’S new album hits the stores February 23rd. I would advise to get it from their website so that you are sure to get your copy. I see this one selling out quick. This is an amazing album not just for those who love jazz or soul but for any believer who loves music.
