Decyfer Down just released their second album “Crash” and it has come out with a bang. Every song is rock hard awesome! They are genuine rocker who have a gospel message to shout to the world. They are all pretty young but two of them have suffered a lot already but with the hope and peace that comes from knowing Jesus Christ they have grown to be men of God who are on a mission to give those who love rock music a chance to know the love of the savior who saved them from life’s challenges. Decyfer Down is on tour right now but we had a chance to talk with Josh who was so awesome to take time for us. I could hear in his voice that he was tired from doing a show the night before but in his love for Christ and for letting the world know who Decyfer Down is and what they are all about he took the time anyway.

When did you come to faith?

Josh: I became a Christian at a young age. I knew that I needed a relationship with my creator. But I didn’t truly grasp it and start really living it until high school.

What church do you go to?

Josh: I go to a church called life community church in North Carolina. We actually meet in a mall right next to Sears and Gap.

So how do you stay grounded on the road?

Josh: We have accountability partners that we connect with in different parts of the country that’s the biggest way to do it and also our local church back home.

What was the inspiration for Crash?

Josh: Many different inspirations for it, obviously some from the road and a lot of life experiences from my family and friends. And so we really just tried to focus on trying to write about things that would impact and change people’s lives.

So who writes the songs?

Josh: We all do.

So what song on the album most speaks to your heart?

Josh: depends on what mood I’m in, I guess right now it would probably be "Best I can" that song really connects with me and a lot of times as believers we find ourselves trying to live up to a perfect expectation and we just need to realize that even if we do screw up that God still loves us and that God has a plan for us and that He will continue to as long as we strive to live a Christ like life and that’s all that we can do.

What’s your biggest challenge as a Christian band on the road?

Josh: Probably just staying focused on what God called us to do and not get caught up in the hustle and bustle. when you are playing on the scale that we are playing right now in so many different cities and so many different areas it get pretty intense so a lot of times we need to really step back and realize that God's called us to do this and we need to peruse what He has for us at the shows talking with people so hopefully we are able to connect and make a difference.

So where did Caleb go?

Josh: A year ago He came to us and said that he just needed to go home and spend time with his family and just focus on his relationships with his family and just be at home. He had just gotten married previously to that. And just wasn’t real happy on the road. So I was like no! No you’re not! And so we prayed about it we fasted about it met with our accountability about it and you know, family comes first in this business or it needs to defiantly and it really was just as simple as that. we have peace that he's not going to be with us anymore but we didn’t feel like God was telling us to quick Decyfer Down so we connected with TJ and he said that he was completely open to coming out and prayed about it and we were about to pick up right where we left off.

What do you want kids to mostly get from your music?

Josh: Obviously we want for them to have a better relationship with their creator and that Jesus Christ is the one that gave them hope and a purpose. We just want people to know that Jesus loves them and that He has a plan for them and that He's given them a future and a hope.

Who do you relate to most in the bible?

Josh: That’s a good question I never really thought about that. I guess it depends on what you are going through at the time. Sometimes I feel like Job sometimes I feel like Paul and other times I feel like Isaiah a lot of different people have a huge role in my life as far as the bible. Right now I kinda feel like Joshua, my name sake I guess you'd say. I really feel like I’m a part of leading this band and leading Christian music rock industry as a whole to a better life and a better relationship with God.
