MissionSix is a band of teenagers who have the hearts of men. They are shaking up the world with their inspiring songs. Mission Six is famous around the world for their high energy music but are humble men of faith. And although you only see five guys performing they rock with Christ at every show. I was surprised and proud when I spoke to these young men. I wasn’t expecting to find such mature men of faith. They were very clear about who they do what they do for. It is all about Jesus and helping youth to see that they too can change the way the world thinks and that every young man and young woman can make a difference in this world. They help to show other kids that anyone can be used by God to do something great. And that you don’t need to be like world but that even being apart from the world you can still be pretty amazing.
I am much honored to introduce to you five men of God who just happen to be young. Please enjoy the interview as much as I did.
Where you brought up in a Christian environment?
Yea, me and our drummer David, both our dads are Pastors. We grew up with the bible all the time.
Anthony and I also grew up in Christian homes. It was the basis of our families and has been that way since I can remember.
So like when did you guys come to faith personally aside from your parents?
I was at a donut man concert, he would give away donuts at his show and he would tell about the gospel. I just thought it was so cool and I just wanted to be just like him. And I asked Jesus Christ to come into my heart that day.
For me Michael, I accepted Christ when I was in first grade. It was actually a week after 9/11 happened. I was so devastated and so scared after seeing all that on TV. I was asking my parents, I was afraid I was going to die. So they told me the best way I can ensure that I can live forever is to except Christ as my Lord and savior. So I did that in first grade.
(Anthony) I know I always read the bible with my family as a kid. And it was just something my parents instilled into me and that’s why I accepted Jesus into my heart.
So where do you guys go to church?
We actually all go to different churches. Even Michael and Anthony are neighbors and they still go to different churches.
How did you guys start the band? Like how did you guys meet?
Back when were in fifth grade (we were about 10) and we were just playing sports on teams together just being best friends and hanging out and stuff. And we realized that God was calling us to do something else. Not just sports but He called us into ministry through music. And so we started a band. And there are five of us. So we say that we are five guys on a mission to put God first in our lives. And we try to live for Him and put Him first in our band.
So when do you guys have time to go to school?
Actually we go to an online high school called “Keystone”. It’s great. It’s interesting but we have tutors who help us out too. We get help with biology, math, and pretty much everything. David our drummer is really good about making sure we do our homework. I remember this one time we were in California and we were at this beautiful property with these hot springs and there was a lake and everything and we sat down and we had to do homework. It was really hard but we did it.
So when you guys travel, how do you keep your faith in check?
One thing that’s good is because we are all from Christian homes we all have each other so we hold each other accountable. I know for me with these four other strong Christian men around me, it’s allowed me to keep my faith strong. And usually David’s dad or Noah’s dad will come out on the road with us and their Pastors so they keep us in check. They are always ministering to us and making sure that we stay rooted in our faith.
So like what would you say your biggest challenge is being Christians in a rock band?
Probably just staying and living out our faith though our songs and everything we tell and pour out to other people living that in our lives. Not just being like robots and saying what you want people to hear but living it and putting into our lives is probably the hardest but God really keeps us humble. And we just try to look to Him and to His Word and we just try to live by that. |
